Jumping the season
« on: May 04, 2013, 09:45:28 AM »
I went to lake superior today to fish salmon and trout from shore. Signs are that its too early for that, but i didnt care. I just wanted a rod in my hand and some water to cast into. Didnt catch anything, but i really enjoyed myself and being outdoors after, during actually, a long winter. Saw lots of water birds. Fun to watch.

It was sleeting on the way to the lake, and there was about an inch of new snow on the ground on the way back.

Just me and one other guy at the place I fished. Stopped elsewhere and it was shoulder to shoulder. Everybody knew conditions were no good, but nobody cared.

Cabin feaver can drive you to do some very irrational things. Fishing when the sleet is flying and you know you have little chance of catching anything for example.  Been there done that.

I feel for you northern boys, Sleet, Snow  :-\  . But fishing is soul cleansing. Some of my most treasured fishing memories happened when the fish didn't bother me none.

I guess I would Ice fish if I got hungry enough.  ::)    if I could find some ice, just an after thought.

You're going to have to talk to Algore about all that global warming.  Here in the PNW it was only 88 degrees and not a cloud in the sky, yesterday.  Today it's supposed to be a chilly 84.  The good thing though, is that the sea lions seem to have gone back to the ocean.
