I didn't know this was news, just a fact that has been going on forever, even during Republican administrations. Most bureauocrats don't much care for conservatives.

Well its still headline news over at Fox. And bilmac is right its been going on for decades.
Nixon was doing this way back in the early 70s and so was Clinton during his eight years.
Now they even have drones who can take glossy 8X10 photos of what you are doing.
Sorta ruins the thought of any privacy while trying to avoid tan lines.  >:(

IMO...FWIW...the IRS should be dismantled...wiped out of existence...destroyed FOREVER...

don't think so? why did that distraught soul do the "Kamakazi" attack on the IRS in Texas? that's just ONE incident.

the IRS is willing to, with the blessings of congress, put people out on the streets penniless...no matter their circumstances, for a FEW dollars of taxes owed...

if you OWN anything, you are at their mercy...and, believe me, they will NOT deal with you...lost your job? lost your income, for whatever the reason(s)? (Such as the crash of 2008-2009) so what? they don't care...fines, fees, interest build so quickly that soon the value of anything you OWN will be taken.

a key factor is "OWNING"...by that i mean if you "OWN" (NOT MAKING PAYMENTS) your truck or house, boat, airplane, RV, etc...it will be forfeited by way of a lien...they send you a lien saying "A lien has been placed on ALL YOUR PROPERTY AND, ANY YOU MAY OWN IN THE FUTURE, UNTIL THE TAX BILL IS PAID."

don't ask how i became aware of this...

If Zero-bama and congress really wanted fair taxation they would implement a simple straight line flat tax across the board with few if any allowable deductions.

For example everyone regardless of income could pay 15% on their earnings and maybe only be allowed deductions for education and medical insurance.

But it would never happen because there are too many people living off of the current tax system,  IRS workers, accountants, lawyers, etc.

And tax codes are a boondoggle even some CPA's can't figure out. Go to a national sales tax and leave it at that but knowing DC they want the present tax system and a national sales tax.
Where its been implemented a NST does work and brings in more revenue.
Like with buying a car the tax owed is figured in with the loan payments sort of like an escrow
account over the term of the loan.

But Brett is right its all about lawyers and politicians are lawyers. Thomas Jefferson a lawyer himself
warned us about this happening to our system if we let it. And he said it would be the lawyers who
would eventually find ways to go around the Constitution and render it useless.
They are even finding ways now to poke holes in the UCMJ.

Many states had restrictions against lawyers being involved in politics in their original constitutions. Needs revival. ear

One of my brother's is a CPA. He tells me that even the IRS doesn't know all the tax codes!

I believe their rules have been made murky by design.  That way, when they are out to persecute somebody or some group..they can dig into the murky mess and come up with something to charge most anybody with a "crime"..

I would never defend the tax system we have, but think again if you think it would be any better if it were replaced with a simple flat percentage rate with few deductions.  For one thing, a flat 15 % for example would amount to about a 100 % income tax increase for the majority of taxpayers.  And it would be about the same degree of a tax cut to wealthy taxpayers.  My guess is that such a plan would not be accepted by anyone but morons.

Pick any single flat percentage rate and you will gore someone's ox.  Start cutting deductions and it's a sure thing that it will touch everyone in a negative way (higher taxes).  If it were that simple, it would have already been done.

I would favor some sort of Constitutionally limited sales tax, which could at least cut the IRS down to a very small agency.  I'll not be holding my breath for that to happen.

the problem, as i see it, is that what's "Fair" insofar as a percentage? who determines what is "fair"?

what's overlooked by most when discussing "Fair" tax percentages, simply stated, is as an example: if a person makes over $50,000.00 per year and pays a flat tax of, say, 5%...that's STILL less than 5% of $100,000.00 per year...if someone is really worried about "Those who make more should pay more."

simply stated, why does someone who makes more, have to pay more? that, IMO, is NOT "Fair"...success IS punished under the current system.
