H&R Scope Mount?

What scope mounts do you guys recommend for a Handi-Rifle?
Personally, I would like to have multiple mounting positions and 0 MOA which leads me away from the OEM mount.
I found one from EGW that seems like it will fit the bill, but want to see what the PROs use!  :D

All scope bases made for H&Rs are shown in the FAQs, the factory base is real popular, the Ironsighter is as well, I really like the Leupold base and for $7-$8 is hard to beat. The Weaver is popular if you want to mount a shotgun scope ahead of the hammer, but is a poor choice in comparison to the others due to the lost space at the rear of the base that hinders mounting a scope back far enough to clear the hammer which is critical. Choosing a scope that's Handi friendly is just as important, either a fixed power scope or a variable that has a small power ring and ocular bell that won't need high or extra high rings.

I must have skipped over that lastnight when I was thumbing through the FAQs. I will head back over that way and see what I can dig up. I have a few shotgun scopes picked out, one from Konus and another Bushness, as well as a Leupold if my Budget allows. I am looking for something like the EGW because I can mount the scope a little further forward to clean the hammer and still maintain a good eye relief and cheekweld. My cheekweld is usually high/forward on the stock so the scope being forward is going to help with that comfort.

The Warne Maxima base and med. rings are my favorite... but the factory base with the Weaver 4x4 rings are pretty darn good for the money.

I used to have an old Pardner Tracker II (Rifled 12ga) and it came with a "Factory" base and only had 3 slots for scope rings. I did some more searching around and checked out the FAQ section with scope bases and I see that there are bases from the Factory with multiple slots for positioning the rings in many places on the scope body and mounting the scope further forward. Is this a new base or do certain firearms models get different bases?

AFAIK the Tracker II only comes with sights,  modern H&R bases have always had multiple slots, the discontinued Ultra base was the same but an inch longer.

I don't believe I still have my paperwork from when I bought it... but I am like 99% sure it said Tracker II and it did not have sights. I bought it from Gander Mountain, pre-mounted base and a real piece of junk sling. The base only had three slots, 1 in the back and 2 in the front. I remember this because I mounted my reflex sight on the second slot back, the most forward slot was too far forward for a good line of sight with the dot. Now that I think about it... it was on sale for like $200... maybe I got a reject, parts bin orphan lol


Let me look for my paper work and see what it says. I do see that the H&R website says the Traker II does only come with rifle sights and am not trying to discredit you at all.

It could have been a Gander exclusive they special ordered with scope mount, did it have a synthetic stock?  Seems to me there's been discussions on such in the shotgun forum.

It did have a synthetic stock/forearm set!
I wonder what would cause the goofy scope base though?
(If an exclusive order is the case)

I use the Weaver 82 Base. It has worked for me several times. To me it looks a little more clean looking without all the slots.

I agree with quick, I have a couple of different scope bases, but since I tried the Leupold, I liked it so much, that I ordered a bunch of them.  Like quick said, at $7-$8 each, whats not to like?

I am partial to the factory rail, but have used the Weaver 82 with no issues too. I should mention that my scopes are also 'old', several El Paso Weavers.
I do like the looks of the scpoes that get the ocular bell just forward of the hammer, but that is what I would buy if going for new now. Doesnt the factory rail work fine with those type?

I always use the current factory base with Medium Burris Zee rings.  They work great on fixed power and 3-9x40s.  I've used the Weaver 82 twice and both times had to cut additional slots to accommodate the scope and adjust eye relief.  I used an Ironsighter on my Pardner Pump slug gun, but had to use mounting screws other than those furnished with the mount.  I forget now, but they were either too long or too short.

I haven't seen a AAC .300 Blk Handi Rifle yet, but based on the caliber, and target market (tactical cool crowd).  I'm guessing, that the AAC .300 Blk rifle has a picatinny rail system.  If that's what your looking for, then the EGW Handi Rifle Picatinny Rail Tactical Scope Mount is what your looking for.  This should be it:

Eureka!!! I believe that is the one on the .300 Blk Handi and is exactly what I am looking for! Low-pro and more then enough slots for position!! I'll tell ya what... you guys are alright! HAHA! :D
