I am torn in my judgement of these men;
In either case, it is good we got the information, but the means of disclosing that info was shady. I know Manning took an oath not to disclose classified info, but I am not sure of Snowden's status.
The real difference so far as I see it, is that Manning divulged information which concretely endangers our troops and intelligence personnel in the field. While as far as we know, Snowden has only described what the NSA does, but no details as to who, where, when and how .
Manning is treasonous, while Snowden is close. It is a good thing that the public is informed about government abuse, but still...there is that oath ! For Snowden, a "whistle blower" doesn't leave the country.. He instead, goes to a truth friendly news outlet..with his attorney of course..
