Ummmm..A little correction in order  here..
I don't know who your history teacher was, or if you memory needs jogging, but that's not the way the Bay of Pigs deal came off.  JFK was told of the plans well before his inauguration..presumably, shortly after his election.  He could have cancelled the plan at any time from then on until April 17, 1961, but he didn't do it.  Instead he approved the plan in February, 1961.
He didn't cancel the venture until 1,400 expatriate Cubans were engaged in fighting on the beach, with 100 already dead.  He had Marines on the ships offshore, but refused to send them in.  Instead, he backed our ships and planes out...and left.

The criticsm at the time was not that he canceled the invasion, but that he waited until there were 1,500 fighting men engaged on the beachead..when he pulled our Navy out..  The present commander of my legion post was aboard one of those ships, ready to go over the side into landing crafts.  He says a lot of Marines were outraged...and he's a diehard Democrat..

  Here's how the Kennedy library tells it;

Yes my memory is bad I admit that, but I was 7 at the time and I guess I should have researched it before I posted like you did.  I'm sure all you wrote was from your memory. The jfk library article also said Kennedy was told of the plan before the inauguration, didn't say when, you implied right after his election in November. As far as what exactly happened during the invasion itself , unless you were there, you don't know exactly what went down and what the intel was. I know communications back then were fairly primitive. So who knows?
My whole point, aside from the mistakes in history, was that when you inherit things from the previous administration, 100% of the blame shouldn't be placed on the the incoming president, but I guess if he wasn't cool with it he should have scrapped it earlier. Ever try arguing with the CIA?

Naw, not smoking anything its just that the republicans were all in cahoots on that one.
Reloading primer scare of the 1990s, tell me exactly what it was that Clinton did himself to cause
that hysteria? Because some Democrat wanted primers to have a shelf life?
It never happened its the same thing all over again that we are seeing with ammo.
Same thing as $5.00 a gallon gasoline you can't blame that one on Obama he was barely in office
then. Speculators did that they buy up large quantity's of a commodity while its cheap then resell it.

The bottom will fall out of this ammo situation the WSJ is predicting around September or October.
Once the raw materials start to clear customs which is about 90 days.
Our dealers are starting to get in shipments of 22lr finally and it really isn't that expensive.
Take in inflation and falling wage scales a brick of 325 rounds of 22lr is going for $40.00.
But here you can buy as many bricks as you want and they have it on the self now.
ARs dropped from 2k or over back down to 1500 for top of the line and they have them in stock.

What's insane and out of control is the pricing on any S&W revolver! They have a Beretta 92 in stock
for $625.00 but a S&W model 27 with a four inch barrel is going for $1200.00.
And if you can even find a Colt Python there is no telling what your going to pay for that.
357/38 spl I am told right now are the hardest calibers to come by especially 357.
Dealers are getting wad cutters in 38 but no plus P or defense rounds.

P.S. Another gun forum for revolvers is saying what Dirty Harry did for the Model 29.
The AMC series the Walking Dead is doing for the Colt Python. Like the series or not it has been
number one in its time slot on cable now sense its first episode.
The only time it has slipped into second was with the History Channels series The Bible.
But that isn't surprising the battle for number one has been between AMC and the History Channel
for years now. Both upon their conception were said to not ever be able to make it very long.
This was predicted by NBC who now is nearly bankrupt.
Its as if the Colt Python has become the ultimate zombie killer, no zombie apocalypse surviver
should be without one.  ::)

You're right , not all of the details were committed to memory..but much of it was.  That occured between hitches in the Army for me.  I decided that when the Cuba thing dusted up..I wanted be right in the middle of it.. so I re-enlisted.  I do recall serving on Tank Hill at Ft Jackson..with some of those Cuban "freedom fighters" in several nearby battalions.  Those Cubans were VERY disappointed in JFK's performance at the Bay of Pigs.  It came as a surprise to me, because I was a JFK fan at that time.  When you presented what you understood to be the situation..I decided to refresh at the JFK library.
As it turned out, no attempt was made to retake Cuba, and due to their anger at the desertion of their friends..the only place I fought Cubans, was at Ft Jackson.. ;) ;D

The power most people fear with regard to a president is his power to sign into law. Look at the democrats who at every chance go after guns . They are there every day and we never hear much about them except from the NRA. Then a president gets elected that sides with them and everything moves to the front. No Bill Clinton may not have offered the offending laws but he did and could sign them into law and that is why he or any president can cause fear in the gun owners of America. In reality its our checks and balances form of govt. working at its best.

Before we get back on topic...IG, I believe JFK was duped into believing Bay of Pigs would be successful by the usual militants around D.C. offices with little if any resistance by Castro forces...that was a military fib and miscalculation. Then he got a phone call from the Kremlin saying better back off. Kinda like Syria of today, perhaps.
.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
..And I repeat, the anger wasn't generated by because he made a miscalculation of strength...but because he abandoned troops involved in combat, even though they were calling for rescue.   Just an earlier Benghazi-gate screw-up.

Rahm Emanuel echoed many on the left when he said, " never let a good crisis go to waste".  Cuomo here in NY did a "midnight legislation" run, with his majority Democ-rats and passed an even more restrictive legislation that Obama tried nationally.  Story has it that Bloomberg (NY City) had written the bill and gave it tro Cuomo..who waited for the first "good crisis"..which of course, was Sandy Hook.

Again: Leftie leaders KNOW they can get virtually full backing of Lefties aftyer a "good crisis"..because the left is moved  by PURE EMOTION...as opposed to  what MAKES SENSE.  They make "midnight runs" so they can catch them while the crisis is still "hot" and before the general public has a chance to be heard.. That is exactly what "Adolph" Cuomo did!

I don't think Repubs hold extra-marital affairs in high-regard. Look at what they did to Clinton.

Nothing in the long run but a dog and pony show for the voters. The real question is what they didn't do for the children . Now all kinds of sex is considered ok for kids to  preform and in many cases not considered sex anymore. So now kids are taught its ok to do things that later in life they will learn were not , and often cause issues in their marriages and self esteem .

You wouldn't believe! One of my daughters is a teacher in a private school. and some stories she has told her mother  about eighth graders would make larry flint blush!

I cheered to persecution of Der Schlickmeister when it happened. I've seen come to view that who mess as a mistake. It was a tawdry waste of time to air it all, and to publicly pursue him. Were someone to do that to me, I just might kick their ass, even if they did have the power of the state behind them. Blue-nosed types need a good whuppin' every  once in a while, just to knock them off their Righteous Pedestal.

At one time I did a lot of school work. It seemed we always had trim items to install after school started . On one site we still had a trl. for stored material and was ask to remove it as two 5th graders were found under the steps making a homerun.

Billy Grahams wife Ruth is said to have remarked "If God doesn't soon bring judgment upon America, He'll have to go back and apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!"  That was in 1965. Man, If she could see us now!  :-\

Not sure he isn't doing so now. We can't run a race , have a parade , or do many other things with out the worry and expense of a threat. How much wealth is consumed in protecting us from our fears ? Look at air travel and the humility we endure just to ride a plane . We may not see a swarm of bugs but we are paying more than we realize.

He lied under oath, that is what he was impeached for, plain and simple. He could just as easily said " It's none of your G-D business what I have or have not done with that woman, Monica Lowinski.

He chose to lie about it, under oath. Those who hate him and those who love him would hold no different opinion, and he would not have the distinction of being impeached.
