Stevens 200 vs. Savage Hog Hunter. Barrel contour?
« on: May 19, 2013, 07:18:45 AM »
Dear Guys,

The Savage Hog Hunter has a medium contour barrel, shortened to 20 inches.  Does anybody know what type of barrel the Stevens 200 has?   Is it the medium contour barrel, or a lightweight?   If medium contour, then for a person who doesn't care about a threaded barrel end, or iron sights, or an accu-trigger, or a knobby bolt handle, the Stevens 200 may be a better choice, since it only costs about half as much as the Hog Hunter.

Thanks for all info, and comparisons.

I'd be interested if someone currently has both a Stevens 200 and the Axis. I had the former and now only have the latter. My recollection is that the 200 had a heavier barrel than the Axis.
