Finally got out
« on: May 21, 2013, 06:52:11 AM »
Took my 3 barrel combo out today for a bit.  Shot at 100 yards:  .357 with 4x scope grouped a groundhog round (110hp) at 1.5", deer load 158sjsp at .8" (.25" verticle spread), and .223 just over 1" 50gr vmax.  Swithched barrels around and poi changed pess than 1/2".  I'm happy.  I only shot the 30-30 at  25 yards and didn't really test it that well, but maybe when I get more time and a peep.  Just thought I'd share.

ETA:  I was using a bipod w/o rear bag.  It got switched around every barrel swap too.

I'm hoping to be able to sneak in some range time this summer myself.
Looks like you got a keeper.  ;D

That's a great report! Can't really complain when everything only changed 1/2" with swapping out the barrels.
I would like to see a 30-30 report in the near future :)

The thuddy-thuddy is goin to stay irons so groups will not be as tight.  I'm hoping that I can keep them all in 6" at 150 yards at least.  It should be doable.

Are you doing the OEM Irons or Peep Sight with new front sight?
(I ask because I am putting together a 30-30 and still undecided about sights)

For now, OEM.  Those adjustment screws use tiny flat heads.  I wish they were allen head.

I will learn the difficulty soon enough.. I have to send my receiver out yet to get the barrel fitted.
Trying to get a good idea on what sights to consider. If you think 6" at 150yds is doable, I probably won't need to worry about getting peep sights or anything more serious lol. I am looking at new front sights though.
