rcbs is great again
« on: May 13, 2013, 12:56:37 AM »
My rcbs power trimmer was old and very tired. Thousands of rounds have been trimmed on it. It got to the point that the motor would stall out rather then cut brass. I boxed it up and sent it to rcbs figuring on paying for a new motor. It came back total rebuilt. The only thing left from the old one was the motor cover and im guessing they did that because i had some cartridge overal lenghts wrote on it. They even put a new cutter on it. All free of charge!!! Cant be that!!

good to hear of a company standing
by what they sell instead of making
excuses or blowing the customer off
completely. there are still some decent
businesses left to deal with.

I like green reloading machines.   :)  RCBS has warranted its products for so long, even if I break 'em, that it hurt to purchase a red Lee Classic Cast Press to supplement the Rock Chucker that has graced my bench for over 2 decades, because they don't make the "standard" Rock Chucker anymore (and the green "Supreme" was more than 2X the cost of the Lee).

They will forgive me this one inequity as over the years I have also purchased a Piggyback II (Progressive adapter) with six different caliber change-out heads and shell holders, their dies for nearly a dozen calibers, Trim Pro Mate Manual Case Trimmer, Trim Mate Case Prep Center, a couple of powder measures, and a 5-0-5 scale to name but a few of the many RCBS Products I have.  All of it is excellent stuff and fully backed by RCBS, which stands for ROCK CHUCHER BULLET SWAGERS (or it used to).

I have made the trip to RCBS, a lot of times. Its only 53 miles from my house. Some of the probs, were caused by me and some were mech. probs. Once I called them about a handle for a bullet luber/sizer I had gotten in a box of stuff I traded for. Had plastic in hand and was told it was covered by their warenty. Explained I had gotten it in a trade with out the handle, and was told it was still under warenty.
Its hard to beat cust. service like that.

Had a worn cutter shaft for a Pro trimmer that I purchased used.  Called and ask about buying a replacement because the shaft had worn grooves where it had been used for the same cartridge a lot.  They said no problem and sent a new shaft at no charge.   How can you beat that.

I'm a rcbs fan too! I'm on my second rock chucker, only cause a relative "crack head" stole, and pawned my first one! They wouldn't warranty that!  :-\

They should give warranty service like this, they charge five times the real value  on the initial sale.

how do you figure that? Rcbs stuff is no more expensive then lyman or hornady or any other quality gear.

Sounds like he purchases the "Smart" brand Chicom stuff.

RCBS lasts a lifetime for the original purchaser and will still be warranted to the survivors and estate sales purchasers after that.

While there are other good products on the market, you just can not go wrong with RCBS. I really like the idea of paying only once for some thing and knowing no matter what I do to it, it will be replaced for free. I know, because it has happened. I own every major brand of loading equipment, but more RCBS than any thing else. I have not regretted a single purchase of RCBS, but have had some regrets with some of the others I have bought.

I don't see how they stay in business sometimes. I have had nothing but great experiences with RCBS customer service. I've bought stuff, screwed it up (my fault) told them so, asked to pay,& it shows up in the mail a few days later. Great folks!

I think they stay in business because their stuff doesn't break very often and when it does, they take care of it.  This builds brand loyalty...

My reloading room is nothing but green. Always has been and I don't see that changing. But plain and simple, I've never had any experience with the warranty department...
I hate when i miss. But when I do, I can always come up with a reason why.

My experiences with the warranty on RCBS have been amazing.  I had a set of dies that I had belonged to my brother.  They would bend the decapping pin about every tenth round and it was getting annoying.  A friend of mine suggested calling RCBS about it.  The lady on the phone said I could send them in but asked if I wanted to try a new decapping rod since it was probably bent a little.  I figured it was worth a trying.  Not only did she send me a new rod but a full decapping rod assembly with expander ball.  And yes, this solved the problem.

The next time, I wanted taper crimp 9mm dies but the local shops only had roll crimp dies.  I called and asked if I could order direct.  I was told to buy them local and then send the roll crimp die and with a note and they'd swap it for the taper crimp die.  So I bought the dies, stripped the crimp die ans sent it in packed in a small card board box.  The sent me a full taper crimp die with 2 seater plugs in a new RCBS die box.

The last time I called about buying a primer catcher try for a very old RCBS press that I had bought used 20 years before.  I didn't know the part was missing before until I saw a used one with the tray.  The told me that was a warranty item and sent the tray for free.

All in all pretty damn amazing service.
