German M88-picking up the pieces
« on: May 25, 2013, 06:13:42 AM »
Picked up some pieces of a Schilling turn of the century custom M88 awhile back, pretty buttstock so decided to try and keep that part, action was not harmed, found a new 7 Mauser barrel (had to rethread) rear sight from a Swedish 96, ramp front from somewhere, forend off a military stock and a few other pieces of walnut to fill in and it's like new again, has great double set triggers and is very accurate.

Now that's a pretty good job putting all those pieces together and you have managed to come up with a really nice looking rifle.  Cool.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments. I pretty much had it figured out just what I was going to do but was surprised how well it all went together. The wood for the forend was beech, I think, and almost white in color but after staining it's hard to see where the joint is. I've put about 300 rnds. thru it now and have the rear sight so I can adjust it for any distance up to 300 yds. Fun rifle.  H08
