Need advise on a bedding job

Hi, just had a gunsmith bed the action on my mod 70,just got it back and tried to pull the stock off to see what it looked like,couldn't get it apart to see it, tryed everything i could think of,the stock breaks loose but won't seperate,anyone know any tricks? should i bring it back to the gunsmith? any help would be appreciated...Thanks,mixer

Where does it stick?
If you grab the barrel and the forend and try to pull it apart like that it will pivot at the rear tang. Most of the time it seems like the recoil lug is a close fit to the bedding and the action needs to be lifted STRAIGHT up. Try holding the stock in a vise and put a length of dowel into the reciever (where the bolt goes). Use a dowel as big as you can get into the reciever and push all the way to the breech. With one hand on dowel and one on barrel lift straight up.
If that doesn't do it you should call your gunsmith. If you screw around too much and mess up the bedding he will probably charge full price to redo the work.

Take it back to the smith.  There is absolutley no reason for a rifle to be that difficult to remove from the stock!!
