Reloading for S&W 1917
« on: June 09, 2013, 02:38:00 AM »
Looking for a good light load for a S&W 1917 US Army. I have the Lee 252-200-RF mold. I plan to cast these from wheel weights and load them in Star Line 45 auto rim brass. I understand that 3.5 gr of Bullseye will push this bullet to around 730 fps. My concern is that these boolits will not stabilize as I have been led to believe that the 1917's require a long bearing surface. My goal is to be as easy on the revolver as possible. Thanks!
