toasted (almost) cereal
« on: June 01, 2013, 04:24:48 PM »
Is it just me, or are Cheerios, shredded wheat, and other cereals not as "done" as they used to be?  Cheerios now seem to be pale white, the same as the off brands of oat zeros.  I used to take my shredded wheat (real ones) and run a bit of hot water over them, drain it, and have not cereal; a thing learned from Mom.  Now it turns into a soggy mess.  I can say the same for some breads that seem to be taken from the oven too soon.  Is this to save on energy?
just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they are not watching you

i believe you're close.
it's to save $ $ $ $ for the bean counters
that work at the bakeries.
there also may be a little cheap soy protein
slipped in there also. who knows?
you'll also take notice that the price
hasn't dropped on these items either.

i try to stay with the big cheap buckets
of oatmeal. breakfast cereals are way
too overpriced and full of salt and corn syrup.

Impossible to find cheerios for miles around this time of year. If ya like cheerios ya gotta buy em before spring. We go through this every year. Those darn hoosier farmers fllood our stores buying them all up so they can raise donuts. HEY, just because it didn't work before?? Who knows?? POWDERMAN.  ;) ;)

You know, I haven't tried any of those in quite a while, although I used to like shredded wheat regularly. Reminds me of when they quit toasting McDonalds hamburger buns. The sandwiches were bad unless toasted bread was used. I have recently seen some toasted again, but seldom go there anymore. The old paste burgers had the effect of driving me to other companies that I like better.

Also reminds me of Schlitz beer, which used to be one of the top three beer brands. They cheapened the product and it dropped almost instantly to 2% market share and struggled to do that. End result was that the company failed and the only thinig of value left was the Schlitz trademark, which was bought by another company that brought the brand back years later, and in better form.

Cheerios? They're alright... but I had venison & mac-n-cheese for breakfast today.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Venison and mac. Mmmm. Just add a little left over birthday cake and a glass of scotch and you'll be really well fed.

I never said it was good for the heart... but it was good for the soul.

(had the daughters over, which accounts for leftover mac-n-cheese...)
