Does yours rattle?
« on: June 15, 2013, 09:38:35 AM »
Got a new Handi Rifle in 300 AAC Blackout this week... waiting on dies so I can make some brass and get out and shoot it.  In the mean time I stuck a red dot sight on it just for S&G when handling it... noticed that the 'latch' (not sure what the official term is) for breaking open the action is kind of loose and rattles in its slot when moving the gun about like one would do when carrying it afield.

Is this normal?  Is there any known-good (hopefully simple n cheap) fixes out there?

Thanks,

Monte

I have a few that rattle like yours. It never kept them from shooting good. ;)

Thanks, Dinny

Read the Handi Basics sticky above, it's covered there.

Okay, so its 'normal'.  Is there anyway to minimize it?  Seems like it'd be a bit of a problem when hunting...

all the ones i have that say
new england firearms or the
newer h&r's rattle like that.
my old pre-nef h&r's lock up
like a safe door and have zero
rattle.

it used to bug me really bad,
but i've learned to ignore it
if the particular firearm does
it's job otherwise.

None of mine have rattled bad enough that game would be spooked by it, nor would it be likely to rattle with normal gun handling in a hunting environment. (I just dont shake my gun around a lot, I guess).
