sheldon lathe chuck.

Hey guys i got an old sheldon lathe and it is in great shape but the chuck back plate for a6" cushman chuck is cracked and i am looking for a 1 3/4 x8 tpi. Or a 6"blank.. if you have any thing that can help

Check out the home shop machinest website and they most likely can give you a source for the back plate. Hope this helps. Frank

Enco and tools4cheap.net are two I came up with.  I couldn't find one with a 1 3/4 thread though, that might be a problem.

Where is the crack? You might be able to weld it and then do the backplate truing (that you need to do on a replacement anyway) and mount it up.
You will have to determine if it is cast or machined steel before welding.
