Marbles Tang Sight on Lever Action
« on: June 23, 2013, 05:19:09 AM »
I have installed a Marbles Tang sight on my Rossi 92 in 44 Magnum.  Turned out really nice looking.  While I am an old hand at peep sights, I have never shot a Tang sight.  There is a very small amount of front-to-back play in the stem of the sight when it is in shooting position.  Is this supposed to be that way?  I was surprised that it did not lock up tight.
The way the sight is adjusted for windage, if it locked up very tight the windage adjustment would probably be very difficult. Anyway, I have not shot the gun yet.  Did not want to waste ammo sighting in the gun if I was going to have to send the sight back for a replacement.

With all my tang sights the stem is very ridgid (upright), with no movement, unless you firmly apply pressure with you thumb.  Most of my tang sights have been new or old Lymans.  One word of caution though. With tang sights on light centerfire rifles, be careful to keep you eye a proper distance from the sight when shooting.  Shooters have damaged their eyes being hit during recoil (especially when shooting at an upward elevation).
