« on: April 13, 2007, 10:34:35 AM »
Of all the Remington Model 7600 rifles produced, which model 7600 is the rarest in terms of fewest Model 7600 rifles  chambered in  that caliber ?

I'm going to hazard a guess that it's the oft fabled .223 7600

I would assume you also include the model 760. If so it would be the 223 ( as "krochus" said ) along with the 222, 257 Roberts & the 244 ( before going to  6mm Rem).

Somebody is talking retarded here.

A 760 is not a 7600, can't you people read.

The most desirable ones - fewest number made were the 30 / 06 Anniversary Editions 100 years,
They made 250 of them.

They also made 300 - 300 Savage 7600 Rifles this year, rumor has it that all 300 of them went to Grice Gun Shop in Clearfield PA.

Remington also came out with a special 50th anniversary of the 280 Remington 7600 this year, only 500 of them were produced.

This is really the only time that the 7600 guns were numbered since they came out around 19 years ago.

When Remington ran the 30/06 Anniversary model, they also produced limited runs of non-cataloged calibers.  Bill Hicks had a run of 500 ea of the .270, and .280 models.  I know, 'cause I have an "unfired" .270 still in the box.  Joe

You all wrong! Rarest caliber in 7600 is 7mm-08 Remington and .260 Remington! 6mm Remington is behind.

I have one in .35 Whelen that I got from Grice gun shop a year or two ago. It isn't rare, but it sure does the job on deer and black bear!

Gamemaster:

Don't think you need to be calling anyone retarded. And yes I do know what the difference is between a 760 & a 7600. I own both. Probably the Limited Grice guns are the fewest made in the 7600. Like my 7600 in 7mm-08 from mid 90's.
Lets keep things civil around here ok.  :) :) :)

I agree Old Handgunner!  No need to have a 'Hissy Fit'  Gamemaster  just because someone gives a bit more info.

Wasn't there a "Larry Benoit Commemorative", That is bringing big bucks for being so rare?

You would be correct. Here is what I came across...

Although the receiver is stamped " ONE OF ONE THOUSAND ", only a total of 170 were manufactured. The left side of the receiver has the standard Remington  roll engraved game scenes and the serial number of the gun. The right side of the receiver on this gun have the words:

"One of One Thousand " and the year 1999 or 2000 depending upon when it was made is on the receiver in gold.

There is a Benoit commemorative listed on Gunbroker.com right now. Starting price is $7500, a nice gun but not for that price. I have a 257 Roberts and believe they were only made 1 year (1992). I have no idea how many were made but they are extremely hard to find.

Keep an eye on Grice Gun shop, up semi-near you (Clearview,PA). They have custom run 7600's almost all of the time. This is where I picked up my son's 7600 in .35 Whelen. I know they have 7mm-08 and .300 Savages from time to time, I don't recall .257 Roberts though, you might want to give them a call. Their number is 814-765-9273.

How many of you have seen a 7600 in 35 Remington?  That's pretty rare.

I have a 35 Remington carbine in 7600 . Bought it 3 years ago. It was a Grice Limited run. Has a beautiful Walnut stock on it. (Not one of them ugly looking Maple stocks)  :P :P Sorry just don't like the looks of the maple stocks.

I only have one.  One of those .25-06 with the "ugly" maple stocks.  Unfired so far, but that will change I'm sure as I don't see the point in having a rifle that you won't shoot.  I've had it about 18months now.

I have one of the Remington 7600 .260. Brand new in the box, never been fired with paperwork. Anyone know what they're going for now? The engravings on the receiver are awesome. Yes, the 7mm-08 is the rarest followed by the .260. I did my research an there were only 250 made of the .260.
