question on reloads 380 cal.
« on: June 24, 2013, 12:50:22 PM »
I like to ask I just started reloading the 380 ammo cast lead 95 grains (missouri bullets)
Charge 2.7 bull-eye
C.O.A.L  .975
My guess FPS around 800
I ran them threw the walter PPK/S
I should have no problems with the LCP

I used to run Bullseye under a 98 gr cast RN through my Bersa with no trouble, but my preferred powder was AA # 2. It seemed to meter a little bit better than the B.E.
Nothing wrong with B.E. though, I use it exclusively in my .38 sp. loads and occasionally .357.

Only way to be sure is to run them through your gun. Don't assume anything.

I used AA#2 for many years along with using BE--only difference I could tell is that AA#2 seems to me to burn a bit dirtier--I used to get comments like "Hey--are you using black powder or something"--now that was when shooting indoors--outside I didn't seem to notice it as much.

Years ago I bought a Russian Mak in .380 auto for my daughter.  I use to load it with W231 or Red Dot since I had both on hand.  I don't remember what I loaded them too but my starting cast bullet loads weren't hot enough to cycle the action.  She has a busy life now and doesn't shoot much anymore so one box of factory loads has lasted a long while for her...
