Cabellas Critter Ridders
« on: February 23, 2004, 02:43:58 AM »
Have any of you guys tried Cabellas Critter Ridder varmint bullets? At $7.99 a 100, they're cheap enough. They are available only for .224 and have a 50gr. and 55gr. both are soft point Spitzer flat base bullets. Price is in keeping with the H+R/NEF tradition. I'm heading there this morning, and thought about picking up a box to try.

I picked up a box of 500. So far I've only shot 50 or so.
They didn't group...AT ALL. Something like 2'' at 100yds.
I Didn't tinker with them very much. I'm sure ,with a little time I could get better groups.
Having said that, there hard to pass up for the money.

I did get to Cabellas yesterday, with a list of six different kinds of bullets, including the Critter Ridders. They didn't have any of the bullets I had on my list, so if the Critter Ridders didn't work well, I guess I lucked out. Of course I didn't go home empty handed. Got some rifle rest shooting bags, and a pair of huntng boots for me and my son. Thirteen years old, and a size 13 foot.
