I know this might should be posted in the political forum but seeing as how it is a Conceal Carry issue I posted it here. You might ask yourself, is my state doing the same?

Missouri Government caught sending Private Data on Gun Owners to Department of Homeland Security

This is probably being done because of some kind of pay back by DHS, as in money of some sort, guaranteed!……This violates Missouri State law!

The Missouri Department of Revenue, who issues concealed carry permits in Missouri, may have been caught transmitting private information on Concealed Carry Permit Holders to the Department of Homeland Security.

Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder held a press conference to announce his involvement in an attempt to stop the Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR) from transmitting this private data to the Federal Government. The data transmission was discovered after a Missouri Resident Eric Griffin’s Concealed Carry permit was denied when he refused to let the DOR scan and transmit his private data to the Feds.

According to LT. Gov. Kinder, this information is not only being turned over to the fed, but also to a PRIVATE AGENCY in another state. Both actions are specifically prohibited by State Law, and seem like yet another attack on law abiding gun owners.

Kinder, and the Stoddard County Prosecutors, filed legal actions against the Missouri Department of Revenue; late today that action resulted in a temporary restraining order being issued that will force the DOR to stop transmitting this private information to the Feds.

Kinder released a Press Release that said:

“This case has issues of statewide importance implicating serious privacy concerns for law-abiding citizens. These folks have followed the letter of the law and been approved for concealed carry by the proper authorities. They must not be required to share that information with any third parties or the federal government.”

In my opinion, this is just another example of why gun registration is a very dangerous thing to allow. Nowhere in the Constitution are we required to register our weapons, or apply for any sort of permit to carry them. In fact, the second Amendment itself should be our conceal carry permit.

The Orwellian nature of this Missouri program highlights our need to be vigilant when it comes to suggestions of further gun registrations and legislation. The farther we allow them to go down this road, the easier it becomes for them to implement their ultimate agenda of gun confiscation.

'hawk, as you can no doubt tell from the article this isn't settled by a long shot. DOR stepped on their tongue on this one. There is a lot more to it than is related in the short post you made and sadly I cannot elaborate. Not because I don't want to but because I don't know what all is happening. It is not a good situation.

You are quite welcome. This is both scary and sickening! Anyone that has paid attention to Homeland Security lately knows they are getting way to big for their britches and are involved in an aweful lot of things they shouldn't be. Buying up ammo, stockpiling assault vehicles, and now this! Things they have no buiseness doing! Then add that the DOR not only sent the info to them....THEY SENT IT TO A PRIVATE COMPANY TOO! I read the private company is in Georgia but nobody seemed to know just who or what the company is. What worries me is that more and more our rights are being trod upon. More and more laws are being ignored and abused by those sworn to uphold them. We are being set up for a seriously hard fall and that's not paranoia speaking that's the sad facts being shoved down our throats while many ignore them saying it could never, would never, happen! Yet it IS happening!

Why would a state have the taxation branch issue Concealed Carry Permits? I found that puzzling vs having the state police or in the case of TX the DPS.

doug, you take a CCW class and all the rest is handled by the county Sheriff's dept. They then tell DOR all is well and all DOR does is issue the ID card, or it can be put on your drivers license, thus the DOR involvement. I suppose since DOR has the information they felt like they could share the wealth. It's a mess and I may let my CCW lapse because of this BS and get it again later after it is all straightened out. Then again, I'm a veteran and prior law enforcement so I don't know what they might get they don't already have other than the fact that I have a CCW.

Rumor is that one of the things DOR got from Homeland Security was the camera's that can identify you from one of those traffic light cameras or some security cameras. Those photo's have evidently also been provided to what could realistically become Obama's Brown Shirts.

id expect this from one of the coast states but im a bit shocked a miswestern state like missouri did it. But then i guess this wonderful state of michigan and our wonderful governor would be more then capable of doing the same.

That's the way the law was passed and I suppose to the powers that be having DOR issue the card made sense at the time. All that card is, is a means of identification. The actual permit comes from the County Sheriff. Still, as has been noted, DOR has that record and evidently it is trading material.

Right now we have a big government, Democrat, almost liberal governor and consequently his appointees at the heads of departments. Were it up to this governor we would not have CCW. He and McCaskill are buds and all freedom loving Americans know she's a snake....the gov. isn't far behind.

There are no small government, pro Bill of Rights democrats. Any vote for a democrat, at any level of government, is a vote to give up your freedoms. No matter what they say when campaigning they all adhere to the party line in the end.

I saw that one on the MSHP donating my info to SS. The lid about came off and my rep. and senator both heard from me. Fortunately in out-state Missouri the vast, vast majority are pretty common sense, conservative types so hopefully a lot of this will be aggressively addressed.

During the last 30 or so years the MSHP has gotten too big for their britches. The road troopers are more arrogant than ever, it appears they do not believe they answer to the citizens and any sense of right, justice and public service has evaporated. Recently they were called to the carpet for a 5.3 million aircraft purchase they didn't need. Legislation followed quickly to limit their expenditures without congressional approval. Bureaucrats being bureaucrats. Big brother has arrived and he is present in force.

God bless Texas! We are Michigan residents at the moment, a somewhat liberal and politically correct state, but we stay in Texas about 8 months a year. We plan to be full fledged Texas residents as soon as my wife is on Social Security (3 years). Texas is not politically correct and doesn't care! They recently passed legislation that it would be unlawful for any Texas law enforcement officer to enforce any new federal gun control legislation. Love that state! As their adds says 'It's a whole other country.' 44 Man

Well, the DMV will no longer be issuing carry permits. That will now be done by individual Sheriff Offices.

44Man, ya don't have to move to Texas for good CCW laws, just step across the state line into Indiana...Where else can you get a lifetime CCW permit. Or, come on down to Texas or Oklahoma, their CCW laws are not as good as Indiana but their working on it.

This post coming back made me remember something. When entering Canada They ran a check on me , using my Drivers Lic. They knew I had a handgun permit and wanted to know how many hand guns I own.
Also if you ever used a credit card to buy ammo or gun you are surely on a list that anyone can get for a fee. I would think.

The first time I went hunting up there was a few days after 9/11 happened. It seemed each year the crossing got more involved. The particular agent involved had processed us a couple times before and was always unpleasant to deal with. Other agents were greatly different.
