MY version of a survival .410 PTII
« on: February 01, 2014, 07:40:27 AM »
Looks lik my post was lost in the server problems.  :'(

When last I left off I had loaded up 20 .444 cases with 10g Unique and a TP over powder wad then filled with cream of wheat then about a doz drops of wax to seal.  OOh yes, I used mag rifle primers as I don't use them allot and I have "extra"

I shot them and found that I could use a faster powder... They did expand, just not as nicely as I would have liked. BUT USEBLE!! ;)

I also visited a gun shop and found five boxes of Win 2.5'' buck shot for 5$ a box... Oh yea I bought 20$ worth. ;)  ;D ;D

I also found a old single cavity mold for a BP pistol. It looks like it measures about .430!!!  I am gonna try to do some casting tomorrow before the game and I'll cast a few and see what I get...

Nice, with the brass .444's .43 should be about right.  The .41 Magnum bullets work perfectly in the plastic.  ;)

CW,

OK, I have to ask… What is the model of the gun in your picture?

Thanks,
Rob

It's a "EXCELLSOR" made in Italy. Early ones where built by Beretta, the later was another company. It had different spelling. I'm not sure I have it correct.

That is one good looking .410.  If I remember correctly those things are feather light too.

Very cool fold up. Here is mine. 28" and about four lbs. Can be broke down but I don't. The gun ammo and a go bag. Made my shells out of 9.3-74 Brass Full 3". Fire formed by filling with 3f black powder and capped. Worked great and fun. I load the brass shells with triple seven and hard cast 410 225g bullets, a lubed patch to hold them in. Shoots 8" at 25y. Notice the sights. The barrel is cyl bore. The other brass shell is loaded with 296 and #4 buckshot, I get about 8 in there. a wad on the powder and wad to cap. I use a punch and make the wad out of heavy card board. Deadly at 20 feet. The other ammo is factory 3" 7-1/2 and 2-3/4" slugs. I have a bunch of the factory slugs. 10 rounds each in the go bag. The bag has, fishing stuff, paper poncho, gloves, binoculars, compass, drag rope, heavy twine, knife, leatherman, a little first aid pouch, Lighter, paper towels and TP. I also have a Rino 120 with extra batteries. Grab the bag, sling the gun and gone in 10 seconds. The bag goes with me every time I am out Fishing or hunting, just change the ammo. I am always armed.
