I know that .357 maximum brass, is really really tough and hard to come by, now but I seen an article y`all might be interested in.

Good article, but I still recommend reaming to Max even if you plan to only shoot Mags. The throat cut by the GBO reamer is an accuracy improvement over the SAAMI chamber.

It is a great way to start messing about with Max type loads in the original chambering so you can warm up to the idea.
I would predict that H&R would have no problem selling a 357Max. chambered rifle (again) over the 357Mag if they would just do it.
After all, nobody anymore chambers a 22Short rimfire, they are 22LR and take Shorts and Longs too; same thing with the Max.
That said, mine is still in Mag as I have determined that what I want out of this rifle is sub-sonic load shooting and the Mag case has more than enough capacity for those velo's and it is accurate 'enough for me'.
If you want or need the capability of getting up into 35Remmy ballistics also, then the Mag wont do it. Long loaded it will get into low end Max data, which is pretty stout, be sure on that, but its not into Remmy territory.

I load my .357 Max just as the article says.
My barrel is reamed and it shoots very accurately with the .38's  the .357 mags. and the Maxi's.
I've got probably 50 pieces of brass, but I save them for hunting, and until I can get more I'll load the .357 mags long and use them as semi-Maxi's.  ;D
Reaming is a no brainer.   Ream it, load up those .357 Maxi hybrids and when the brass is available you'll be all set.   It's all good! ;)

I've been doing this for a couple of years now. When I first posted what I was doing on this very site, it started a fire-storm of criticism. If folks knew where I lived, I swear, they would have lynched me. Funny! Too bad old posts have been lost or I'd link to that old post here.

My problem with this is it's what I consider something for advanced re loaders. Folks who truly understand fundimentals of where how and why. It's not for all. Sometimes things are posted matter of factory without warnings and I would really be gravely saddened to learn of someone getting hurt doing these things without proper knoledge and understanding.

that's how I can use 38 special loads with my 38 long colt cases.


My 357 maximum shoots 38 long, 38 special, 357 mag 360 and 357 maximum.

I was just looking around for some brass.  Holla if you've seen any.  Some 360DW would be nice, too!
