The only way to get satisfaction will be to push the Opposition party to make a noise in the House.    Fat chance of that happening from what I can see nowadays.

I emailed Wolfs Den and got this reply:

Hi Chuck: Yes it is all true. We are still fighting and hoping for the best. Charges have now been laid against several officers and their first appearance is Mar. 4th, 2004. After that I will be putting another update on the site.

Just to give you an idea of what we are up against, since the arrest on the 27May 2003 and when we went public we were supporting this boy. There was no way he could do it on his own either financially or mentally, we at our business of archery and guns, have had 4 surprise gun inspections by the Ontario Provincial Police, when we would normally have one. We have had a Provincial Sales Tax Audit, a Federal Goods and Services Tax Audit, and I have had 3 personal Income tax audits. I have had police officers come into my store during our busy time in uniform demanding statements from myself, my son and my staff, supposedly at the request of the Crown Attorney, even though we were never at the occurrence. One of my female employees who works part time at her father’s security business is now being hassled at her other job on Saturday nights after midnight on three occasions by two plain clothes men saying they are O.P.P. officers investigating security companies. When she tells them to contact her father and supplies the address and phone number they say no they want to talk to her and insist on asking personal questions about her home her other job and her phone numbers. I received a speeding ticket just up the road from my house and business but have no way of proving I wasn’t speeding. Customers complain of being continually checked on our country road both ways from our driveway. The latest thing is someone contacted my insurance company through two insurance adjusters saying they were at a archery tournament at out place and felt we may not be insured for some of the events we are running. All BS but is a clear attempt in my mind at intimidation. They apparently feel if we withdraw our support, he will cave in and plead guilty. I also had a telephone call from a man saying he was the inspector in charge of the police detachment involved and telling me he was in possession of the release I was circulating and there was going to be trouble. Insinuating I would be sued for spreading lies. When asked how he knew they were lies he stated his men had told him so. There is far more to this story then I have related here but it is all true.

We are making headway but it is very expensive and time consuming. With everyones support we will win. So far we have had to bring in expert witnesses to establish the excess use of force. It was expensive but worthwhile.

I appreciate your interest. Please spread the word. The more people that know about this and bring pressure onto the officials the better. Keep checking the webb site and feel free to call me anytime for updates. Carl Banting

This web site showed up on the Go Go Varmint Go website, and several members were wondering if it was true. Since your place of business was named, I am writing for confirmation. Thanks, Chuck from arkansaw

this seems like a story out of a fiction novel. And to think that we were called "crazy" and " paranoid" by non gun owners. out of curiosity, has he had any dealings with local police in the past? not so much criminal, but  was he active in local protests opposing gun control? As to the federal harrasment of a legal business I thought if you can prove a federal agency is harassing, you can sue, and persue other avenues to make it stop. With the way his ill son and his family were treated, I find it hard to believe that there isn't a good lawyer who wouldn't take a civil case for a percentage of the settlement. One last thing... why did this story not make the  news all across the country? I didn't hear anything about this here in winnipeg?

This story apparently was written up in the "Ontario Out O Doors"..in the Sept issue.  If I had gone to the gun shop  I wouldn't have heard about it.
This is a sickening story that should be told over and over again....it should not be silenced!!!!

Spread the word!!!!!!

As of now, if this is the way they treat gun owners, and their own citizens to boot, HELL NO!!!!  I will spend my money to visit the Bill Clinton Library before I visit Canada!!!

I would ask that All members across this the country e-mail their respective newspapers the link to the story site. I will do that here in winnipeg. With all the infringment on reporters in ontario and quebec over the biker story with the informants, I'd bet money that they will jump on this like a quebec ad company on a liberal chequebook!!!!!!

Upnorth....
I have placed this webpage on hunting message boards that I could find.  Help plaster this ad on the rest and also any policial board you can find.

This is an extreme action taken by police that should NOT have gotten out of CONTROL!!

THIS CAN HAPPEN TO ANY HUNTER IN THIS COUNTRY!!!
WE ARE NOT A POLICE STATE...THAT IS NOT WHAT THE CONSTITUTION STANDS FOR!!  IT IS TIME ACTION LIKE THIS IS APPOSED BY THE MASSES NOT JUST A HAND FULL OF PEOPLE!!  IF IT IS NOT STOPPED THEN THIS TYPE OF ACTION WILL SPREAD TO OTHER THINGS BYSIDES HUNTING!!!!
