Victor:  No buddy, we're not doomed.  We might not be able to fix stupid but the gene pool cleans itself out about once every 20 years or so and then stupid starts again. 
 
Vic - the same people who believe the sun revolves around the earth are the same people who believe that when the light turns green you can cross the street, and the gene pool starts cleaning itself out again.  One interesting thing about gene pools is that at the bottom of the pool you have all those lines that have failed and as those lines begin to deteriorate it pollutes the rest of the pool and they die out every other generation or so.  There are examples that you can find on the net if you look but whereas we cannot fix stupid, stupid usually fixes itself...... do not despair.

Today, a girl at work was lamenting how it got dark at 5:00 these days. Not to worry, says I; Daylight Saving Time would be starting soon. I also said that I wished we would just stick to one time, like Arizona does.

"Really? In Arizona it gets dark at 5:00 year round?"

Bless her heart. Going for her MBA. A brunette, even.

It hasn't been pretty for years. Can't remember which one it was, Leno or Carson. Interviews on the street, people could tell you who was a quarterback on a team 20 years earlier, and how many yards he threw, but didn't know who their governor or congressman was. Now it's which Hollywood celebrity is shacking up with who. My kids and wife like to watch that tv show, the walking dead. Probably more truth in that show than I give it credit for. gypsyman

Have to agree with TM7's assessment.  The powers that be have been dumbing down our educational system for 100 years.  An ignorant populace is so much easier to control.

You need not look any further than what people elected to lead this country to see how far into the toilet we are.  I think there should be an IQ requirement to qualify as a voter and it should be above room temperature.

With the way the presidential vote went I would have figured that more than 50% thought that the sun orbited the earth. Where was that 75% of knowledgeable people?   So smart that they just didn't vote? ear

Heck, we have always had idiots.  I remember back when I was a kid and would watch the Newly Wed game with my parents......question- which direction does the sun set at your house.....N, S E, or W?......couldn't believe some of the answers.

 I watched a comedy show were a guy was asking people to sighn a petition to end womens sufferage. He told them it would end suffering and people sighned it, even women. Not too funny.

A Reporter( possibly FOX) had a petition that asks people to sign it if they are for allowing abortion after the last trimester and even some younger women signed it.

Mom always said if they were going to allow abortions they should raise the age to 18. That way you could let them know any day you might change your mind.
A lot easier to keep them in line.
