Hog Bullet
« on: February 19, 2014, 10:54:24 AM »
I have a Ruger Old Army cap n ball pistol that I'll be using as a backup until I learn to shoot it better. I had Accurate Molds create me a heavy WFN to use.

I designed it in a way that makes it a bit shorter than a typical 285 grn bullet with a lube groove so as not to use up too much powder capacity. I'll be using 3F Goex Olde Eynsford or Triple 7, and I'm thinking I can likely push this bullet past 900 fps.

One of these days I'll get a Classic Ballistix cylinder so I can move on into the beginnings of magnum territory…

Kaido has custom 255 grn FN bullets that several people use for handgun hunting of hogs, and it was shown to go nose to tail through an adult ~200 lbs IIRC.

I was wrong about the speed. It's actually 850 fps that I think can be reached, if not surpassed with a standard cylinder. And I do want the deeper chambers a Classic Ballistix cylinder offers.

Anyone have a comment? I can handle it if you think it foolish...
