Been looking online for 1895.  Seen some listings for 1895 SS, but am only familiar with what is currently lsited on Marlin site.  Anybody know more about this model?  Thx

VA, I have a 1895ss, made in 2001. 22in bbl blue, ballard rifling, cross bolt safty. I got mine at cost as I work part time in a gun shop. Had my gun smith port mine (3 horz. slots on each side of the bbl, and back bored to just behind the slots to prevent lead shaving). Added a 1 in shotgun recoil pad, am shooting 425 hard cast gc fn with healthy load of rl-7.  Added the ashley ghost ring sight and left the stock marlin rear site in place, got all three sights lined up and can shoot this thing all day long with no ill effects.

From what I've been reading, seems like a good recoild pad wil be in order.  I have a tendency to shoot a lot at once while sighting..
