So the question that come to my mind is if they can make the 17M2 economical why can't they do the same with the 17 HMR?

If they can make the 17M2 economically will that kill the 17HMR?

I was just gettin ready to line a Martini 12/15 from .22lr to 17HMR.  Maybe I'll rethink that.

It might be very interesting to see what they consider "economical"

I imagine it will still cost the same if not more than 22 mag, which in my opinion is not exactly economical, least compared to .22 LR

Do not know if it is accurate, but I saw $5 and some change somewhere as what was going to be the price per 50.  That little extra powder and bigger case sure do cost a lot more for the 17 HMR!

Agullia (spelling?) was supposed to have a .22 lr necked down to .17 with a lead bullet on the market two years ago, but it never surfaced.  With todays powders this short version can probably match the longer version for velocity.  This will be interesting, it looks like Hornady will be competing with itself.  Will one of these kill the other in the marketplace?  How about a .22 Hornet case necked to .17 next?

the 17hs first was around the 40's but never made it.  then in the last few years aguila has been trying to make a go with a very similar round.  the aguila can be fired in a 17hs barrel but a 17hs can not be fired in a 17aguila chamber.  aguila has been promising this round for years.  hornady's is different than those two.  the 17h2m using the stinger case so its longer that a 17hs.  hornady has the ballistics of it now on there site. since hornady, cci and eley got to gather i doubt the 17aguila will ever make it to the store shelves.

I guess the 17 Mach 2 is for real. Hornady is advertising it on their web site. The Aschutz is making a couple of rifles in that caliber. Now if Ruger would make it in the Bearcat or Single Six I'd have to get one. Anyone know of any other gunmakers making rifles or handguns in that caliber?

"Yeah, but who makes guns for it?"

There is always a troublemaker asking questions like this.  Isn't it enough that it is a cool looking little round? <VBG>

I dunno whose making what, but I want in on the action as early as possible!

I think this is the straw that will break the camel's back for me to buy a contender G2 frame and custom 10" bbl in HM2.

Anyone know whose building G2 barrels for the HM2 yet????
