Blackhawk gripframes

HI,


What is the functional difference on the gripframe between the standard blackhawk and the mid size flat-top frame.  I am looking to purchase a 45lc/45acp combo and have been trying to locate a Lipsey's stainless combo 5.5" flat-top.

Functionally there is no difference, still a traditional single action 'plowhandle' that looks and handles like the 'cowboy' revolver we all know.
There are some redesign considerations between the frames when you go to get grips, but unless you have the S-BH or Bisley variations they pretty much feel the same after you shoot a little.

I agree.  I have a Lipsey's Flattop BH in 45C/45ACP with a 4 3/8" barrel.  I think its nicer than a full blown SBH size wise...carries just perfectly.

Maybe I need to rethink my question..  I was thinking more in size differences as I have a regular blackhawn 7.5" in .357 and  a SBH Hunter in 45 Colt.  I was wanting something easier on the hip while having the second cylinder in 45acp.


Is the Flattop smaller in a great degree than the full size model.  In my local shop I was able to check out a .44 special version and found the black grips a little too thin for my liking although they can be swapped for ones a little larger. They did not have a full size model to compare with side by side.
