A kernel of truth from the past
« on: August 14, 2020, 12:15:43 AM »
  From Dietrich Bonhoeffer;

  "If I sit next to a madman* as he drives a car into a group of innocent bystanders, I can't, as a Christian, simply wait for the catastrophe, then comfort the wounded and bury the dead. I must try to wrestle the steering wheel out of the hands of the driver." ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer

  * Includes "would be" drivers..

"They have the guns and therefore we are for peace and for reformation through the ballot. When we have the guns, then it will be through the bullet"      (Saul Alinsky) ...hero of the left..

 I only posted it in the religious column because Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German pastor during WW2, who opposed Hitler and was hanged by the Nazis for doing so !

I don't know much about him, I agree with some of his quotes for sure, but not so much the lutheran religion in general.

     "Mainliner" is mainliner after all.  We get the unadulterated gospel primarily from the "sola scriptura" folks.
  In the 19th century, Walter Rauschenbusch of Rochester, NY did much damage to the church scene in America.  An early proponent of the "social Gospel" he led many away from the true gospel and the great commission.
  Born into a German Lutheran family, he somehow became a "German Baptist"..and likely a moving force in what is now called the "American Baptist" church, a division of Baptists, who are very unlike Bible believing Baptists.
