Mine was a '55 but was almost identical except for the grill being a little different. That one they showed at the very end of the video was the color of mine except the roof on mine was black not white like in the video. Otherwise it was just like that.

Studebaker had been around for a long time. They once built horse drawn buggies and wagons.
Among other things like steam driven tractors. Holt tractor company " Now CAT" was one of thier
competitors back then.

Studebaker celebrated their 100th anniversary in 1952.  They started with wagons, actually wheelbarrows, and built many of the Conestoga type wagons for the westward pioneers, long with farm wagons and various trade wagons.
  There was once a short film about "wheelbarrow Johnny". John Studebaker went west for the gold rush, but he found his skill as a cartwright paid him better than taking a chance for gold.  He made wheelbarrows for the prospectors, saved his money, nd came home to South Bend and started the Studebaker works !

Unfortunately the management at Studebaker made one blunder after another that led to their final ruin.  They made some great cars but there were a lot of little things they could have done to make them more marketable.

There is little doubt that th e'big 3' played some "dirty pool" while tryingbto crush the little guys.
  Tucker built an interesting car, but he didn't stand a chance, once the big 3 drew a bead on his car.
  The little guys has to launch some spectacular cars, just to get some attention.  Consider the 50-54 Hudson Hornets..  Led the stock car races all those years.

  Dare we even mention the Studebaker Avanti ?  ..And how about the Kaiser Dragon?  It  sure was an eye catcher;
