The COST of Self Defense: Self Defense Aftermath Part 4

The cost of self-defense is what people tend to ignore the most when thinking about what happens in the aftermath of a self-defense incident. It is also the most important thing to everyone because few people have the resources to pay for attorney's, experts, civil damages, and everything else that comes with a court case.

Concealed carry is more than just carrying a gun for self-defense.

Back in 1973, when I first got my CC permit, there was no required classes to take
which is really a good idea, but there is such a a thing required here for years now.
 for some years now!
My Daughter-in-law obtained her CC permit about 2 years ago, and when she paid her fee for the class, they offered a free spot for a guest.  I took that class, and I am so happy that I did!
We cannot take the responsibility seriously enough.  If we are involved where we must use our gun (don't say weapon), even in a very necessary self-defense case..we can still lose much, to include our life savings, our property and our very freedom.

The instructor asserted, that when you purchase ammo for instance, don't get too exotic of ammo, because even that can be used against you.  Remember, there may be some sobbing soccer moms in the jury.. a sharp attorney can make an exotic ammo "ripping and tearing, flesh..slicing through nerves and sinews", look like you had mayhem in mind.
That instructor suggested you load whatever the local police use, that way if the opposition starts the "ripping and tearing" accusation...perhaps your defense could say.."hey it's the same thing the police here in town use" !
No, I am not a lawyer, so just take the words here, only for what they are worth.
That instructor also suggested that when police arrive, whether your attacker is live or dead..you demand that they arrest him.  ..Must be some legal point..I think I know why, but as I said, I am no lawyer.
"They have the guns and therefore we are for peace and for reformation through the ballot. When we have the guns, then it will be through the bullet"      (Saul Alinsky) ...hero of the left..
