Are you a Handi-Holic?
« on: August 09, 2020, 08:50:54 AM »
If you own more than 3 barrels for your SB1 or SB2 frames you might be a Handi-Holic?

True enough, swmbo seems to be of the opinion that individual barrels somehow equals actual firearms owned when comparing the number of sewing machines she has to firearms I have. She quilts and collects sewing machines.

That is funny, my wife thinks all those barrels in the safe count as a firearm also. I tell her they are just parts. She says why do you need all the parts for guns you already own? I say if something breaks...

There's no doubt they all count as firearms since most all of the 40 some I've had at any one time have been on their own frame! So yes, anyway you look at it.  ::)

I originally planned to have second barrels for a couple of my Handi rifles but I ended up just getting more of them.  As I best recall I have them in, .17 Hornet, .223 Rem (superlight,) .25-06, .300 Blackout, .30-30,  and .45-70.  I think I might be forgetting one... So do I qualify?

I have had a number of Handis, but right now, I only have one.  That one is a Versa-Pack, which I have replaced the .410 barrel with a 20 ga barrel, since I considered the .410 as not versatile enough !

I have given several to my posterity, and traded some I never should have let go. ..But I plan on keeping that Versa-Pack.

As of yesterday, I'm down to 5 Handi's. The road to recovery is a long rough one.  ;D

I am !  They are not my favorites of all of the single shots I own but they out number all others. Over the past 20 years I have easily owned more than 50. Until the last 7-8 years I could still buy new Pardner shotguns for $ 100 and find used nice condition older guns for $ 50 - $ 75 and have owned them in 410 thru 10 ga. The factory handi rifles I have owned dozens of in all calibers except for a few of the more rare calibers and own quite a few in wildcats and non factory chamberings.
They are great because of all of the components that are interchangeable and available at low cost, far more than any other make or model rifle or shotgun.
Really if you like simple, what’s not to like about handi’s !

Then yes I am.  I have a Buffalo Classic 45-70, several shotguns and barrels, a versa pack.22 barrel, and a 243 I had rebarreled (stubbed) to .45 ACP. And I've had a bunch more that have found new homes.

I've had a bunch of Handis over the years but right now I'm down to a Topper 16 gauge and my son's .300 Blackout. I've shot more game with that 16 gauge than anything else.

I still can be lumped in with the rest of you,  but the fever and the shakes have subsided.  As one not to let go of things I still have all the below list,  which may or may not be complete.  As other things get added the handies may get less air time,  but there is still nothing like hiking through the big Maine woods with my 35 W.
Kevin
Handi's:17 Mach2, 17 HMR,17 WSM, 22LR, 22 Win Mag, 204 Ruger, 22 Hornet UV, 22-250 UV, 25-06, 30-30, 35 Whelen, 30-06, 20gaX2, 20GA ultra Slug, 12ga ultra slug, 12 ga Turkey, H&W 45-70 BC X2, 45 LC CC, 44 Mag, 500 S&W and 140+ non-H&R types

If you have to shoot more than once you should not have shot the first time.

I refuse to count them. I am down a few and will likely sell a few more this year. It would be easier to pare down if they didn't shoot so well. ;)

I lost my .45-70 to the one grandson in a bet and I traded a varmint rifle for another and a couple of AR lowers.  He liked the one I traded for with a scope so I have my peep sighted one back...

Crazy thing is my .25-06 is and Ultra and came with a walnut stock but it's a drop comb stock not a Monte Carlo style.  I don't know if I'm going to trade it off or put it on one of my peeped Handis later on.  There's too many other things to spend money or or a new laminated stock would be coming to one of my Handis soon...

Let me see, .223 Rem, .300BO, .30-30 combo (20 ga) 9mm stub job, .357mag (shoot mostly .360dw brass) .444marlin, pair of .44 mags, one with Red Dot sight, one with 1x5 variable. .45 colt. And just picked up a .22lr from a local shop for 240$.  Few assorted shotguns and barrels 12's and 20's. Couple of each.

Yeah you could say I'm a handi Holic.
