Sgt. John D'Allara and Officer Walter Weaver of the New York Police Department arrived to burning towers at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. They rushed into action, working to save as many people as possible before the towers ultimately collapsed.

D'Allara's S&W Model 5946 (left) and Weaver's S&W J-Frame revolver (right) were recovered from the rubble and reside today at the NRA National Firearms Museum.

Both men were inside when the towers fell, and they were never found. These two men are among the 343 firefighters and 71 law-enforcement officers who perished. D'Allara's S&W Model 5946 and Weaver's S&W J-Frame revolver were recovered from the rubble and reside today at the NRA National Firearms Museum.

This Smith & Wesson Corp. Model 642 was recovered from the ruins of the World Trade Center and is now in the NRA Museums. The gun belonged to NYPD Officer Walter Weaver, one of 2,977 who died on Sept. 11, 2001.

The 9/11 attacks remain the worst terrorist act in world history, claiming the lives of 2,977 innocent people. We will never forget.

Amazing that they survived, and good that they are serving as individual memorials to two good men.
