A few years ago we were without power for 8 days and nights. Inconvenient?? Of course, but we stay prepped.
Phone lines dwwn, naturally Pattys cell was dead. I slipped and slid across the icy yard to get to the car to charge the phone. Fell several XS. OVER 2 in of ice on the car, finally got in, hooked it up. Fell again getting back in the house. After it was ready I brought the fully chgd phone back in. Then heard on the btty op radio that ALL CELL towers were dead too. CHARLIE.  ::)

hope you have a generator. I was a lineman and know how long outages can last and have seen what going without power can do over a weeks time. People talk about prepping and storing food and water for end times that will probably never happen but wont go spend 500 bucks on a generator for something thats inevitably going to happen. Our power grid in this country is old and in terrible shape. Long outages are soon going to be the norm not the exception. Add to that most untility companys have half the lineman they had 20 years ago to cut costs and keep them profitable. Its a ticking time bomb. Heck most in this country would about put a gun to there heads when there cell phone went dead!!
