I have a U.S. Firearms Mfg. Co. SAA that was produced in 1996. The revolver has the Old Armoury Bone Case & Blue Dome finish. The barrel length is 4 3/4" and it is chambered in .45 Colt. The stocks are solid walnut. It has the blackpowder style basepin screw. I bought the revolver new in 1998 and it has not been fired. It does have a few light handling marks. I would rate the condition at 98%. It is a very nice looking firearm. What do you folks think of these revolvers? How is the quality? How do they shoot? I'm really sitting on the fence with the gun. I have had the gun for all these years and never shot it. So, I'm debating about selling it. If I decide to let it go, what would be a fair price ?

probably the best colt copy going. The ones ive looked at and shot were beautiful guns probably better then even the real thing. My buddys .44 special will shoot anything into less then 2 inches at 25 and alot of loads into an inch and is the tightest fit single action ive ever seen come from a factory. I would guess that a nice used one is worth $800 go to gunsamerica.com and see what there going for. If I were you id keep it and shoot it.

Those produced the last several years are 100% Made In America, but the earlier one's (before I believe '99-2000) were produced using 'in the rough' Italian parts. Mostly the frames and cylinders. I do not know the exact percentage of non-US parts. Final machining, fitting and finishing was all here. I have heard that the Italian based units are bought and sold on a different scale than the US units, but do not know the discrepancy.

I've heard conflicting reports, one that the new ones are worth more because they're American (?), and the other that the old ones are worth more because they are collector's items.

There are places to post it, here, or the Frontier Spot or the SASS Wire, probably better for the one-timer than Gunsamerica or the Gunbroker, etc which are more like Ebay.
