I had a Savage stainless heavy barrel .22 magnum that shot the same way.
100 yard groups seldom went over .75 if the wind was calm.
Like an idiot I sold it.
Take heart Bug..I have a Savage 93, 22 mag, and it shoots very well also. I had over the years, 2 Savage/Anschutz (actually Anschutz) rifles in .22 mag. In bursts of munificence, I gave them away..one to my son, another to my grandson.
Later, I decided to get a replacement..tried a number of them , including a Marlin..but none came near the one I had.
Then, after a number of years, I stopped by my LGS..and there was a base Savage 93, with regular barrel and synthetic stock. Although new, it was at a truly attractive price.
I bought it, figuring if it wasn't good, I could trade it again.
Imagine my surprise when I found it to shoot as well as the Anschutz rifles I had.
BTW: Some of those old Mossberg 640K 22 mags, shot very well too !
