Unless a doctor says otherwise, mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor cannot fight for 180 days following a beating he took in the ring Saturday night at the hands and feet of Dustin Poirier.

Insider reports the Irish fighter, who limped out of the ring following a surprising second round knockout in Abu Dhabi, was handed the suspension as part of UFC protocol meant to protects its combatants.

McGregor reportedly sustained injuries to his right tibia and fibula. A physician would have to X-ray the 32-year-old brawler’s lower leg before he can climb back into the ring.

Poirier, the American fighter who kicked the life out of McGregor’s shins before finishing him off, has also been ordered to rest one week to nurse his wounds.

“We compromised his leg, and he was in a bad position early just from the repeated leg kicks,” Poirier said.

McGregor said one of his legs was “completely dead” during the competition on Fight Island, where the UFC has hosted fights during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the life of me I could never understand why someone would want to get into that sport. I remember this young guy that worked for the company I did. He got into MMA fighting. He came to work one day and said his kidneys had been bleeding. He got out of it shortly after that. I don't care how good someone is. they end up getting beat up. the head trauma has to be life affecting.

I totally agree.
My wife has a cousin who was into mma and recently switched to bare knuckle where he won some kind of championship.
I watched one of his fights on youtube and he was a bloody mess.

I always liked boxing but was never attracted to MMA. I posted a VID on the beatdown, did yall watch it?? He took some real unnecessary punishment. Guy didn't just want to win, he wanted to punish him bad. MCGREGOR won the first fight, I doubt there wil be a third. CHARLIE.
