Absolutely do not forget to
check your smoke alarm batteries,
and immediately replace any
that have been in use for a year.
Cheapest insurance you can buy.
I got in the habit of changing out
smoke alarm batteries every time
change, but somehow I let mine go
and these were from October of 2019.
Too long for me. I've been through 2
house fires, and 2 workplace fires.
That's too many. I've seen how quickly
they can escalate.
I'll put a piece of masking tape on the
side of the battery with the install date
to keep track of it.

Don't forget or put it off  ! !
Did I mention it's cheap insurance  ?

My newer smoke (and CO) detectors have non-replaceable rechargeable batteries. The batteries last 10 years which is also the life of the sensor.

Two of mine are tied to the electric grid in the house, and I admit to being lax when it comes to changing the batteries in the other two.

Well me letting that go
that way shook me up
some.  When there's icy
conditions like we have
here now, it seems fires
are at their worst, and the
FD is slow to respond because
of bad conditions all the
way around.
The realization that I had let
that go kinda worried me
