I had 2 uncles, a cousin and a brother in WW2.  ..And that is just off the top of my head..there are more if ! take time to think about it..

My Uncle Fred, a major, entered Europe by way of the Normandy beachead..but a couple days after the first landing.

My uncle John (my favorite), with Patton in North Africa, Sicily, and the Italian campaign.  He was stopped short at Monte Cassino, and finished the war at the Army hospital in Denver (Fitzsimmons?).

Cousin Bud was a top gunner on a bomber in the Pacific theater..while my brother was a Merchant Marine..who was aboard a ship during the "suicide run to Murmansk"!
"They have the guns and therefore we are for peace and for reformation through the ballot. When we have the guns, then it will be through the bullet"      (Saul Alinsky) ...hero of the left..

My favorite uncle was load master on a B-25.
Ironically, my career at Delta Airlines was doing the exact same job.
Only I worked about 80 flights a day, while he worked 1. :)
