Does anyone out there know about these pistols.  I know they were made on a limited basis and I think they went out of production sometime in 1997.

I haven't heard very much about them at all.  Can someone speak to their reliability and the DA/SA operation - is it Walther like or somethinbg else?  Is it reliable enough to last as long as a 1911????

The two I handled had such a long trigger reach it was unusable for me. The smiths at Wilson Combat never could get a trigger job they were satisfied with.

.45 ACP/1911 Colt Double Eagle

I'm the proud owner of a colt double eagle 45 - bought it about 6 weeks ago - new.  That's interesting since they stopped making them in 97.  Shoots sweet - very tight groups at 20 meters - about the size of a quarter.  Haven't had the opportunity to outdoor shoot at 50 yards yet.  Holding at the 6 oclock position it hits at 12 oclock 2 inches high at 20 meters.  Since it is a double action semiautomatic, the trigger pull is long for the first shot.  After that, the pull is still as long, but there is not tention till you are almost at the wall and then it is short and smooth.  Nice piece - I'm glad I bought it!!
