I just received the latest Natchez and Sportsmen's Guide catalogs in the mail. In one of them the Nosler Partition bullet that is on a Nosler case, powder and primer unspecified, as manufactured and packaged by Nosler in 270 Winchester caliber was over $85 for 20 rounds. Come On Man! Over $4.00 per round?!?!? Not going through my gun. I am building 270 Winchester Nolser Partition rounds, very accurate rounds too, for under $1.00 each (probably closer to $0.50 each).
Well I never..."verdigris forming" - I had to look that up!
A shortage of ammo on the store shelves isn't gonna keep me from shooting. I sure don't do the volume of shooting I used to but I still get out and shoot.Just today I was sorting out the brass I had fired yesterday as I was taking it from the tumbler and decided to look around to see if I could locate some more .44 special brass for some loads I want to put together.I did find about 25-30, maybe more and put them in the tumbler to clean. I also found several hundred yellow brass .38 special cases that were prepped and ready to prime but were looking kinda dull so I tossed them in the other tumbler. I found close to or maybe a bit more than 1000 nickel .38 cases ready to prime also. They were shiny and bright.I found a large box of brass under my loading bench and it was primed .45acp, didn't count them but at least 1000 I'd bet. I sorted out the ones with verdigris forming and tossed them in the scrap brass bucket. I then reboxed them in closed box. They are ready to load also.I could use some Bullseye and Unique powder but otherwise I'm in good shape. Not that I need them but whenever I get ready I can load up several thousand more rounds of ammo anytime I want to from stuff on hand.I've looked for both Bullseye and Unique online and it just ain't out there. Next time I get to a gun shop I'll see if there is any. If they aren't scalping it and have some I'll buy, if not I have plenty of other appropriate powders that will substitute nicely for them.I had a box with two 8 pound cans of Lil Gun sitting up high that I thought was Unique but when I opened the box it was Lil Gun instead. I got that for loading .410 back when I was still shooting skeet.
Bug, to bad about your boating accident I sold all my guns and ammo when then price was high. I kept one old 410 with a cracked stock and rusty barrel 'cause nobody wanted it.
