:D
Don't know where to post this, so I decided to do it here.  I am glad that things are back up and running again.  I know that software/hardware problems can be a real pain in the butt to find and fix.

I just thought you might like to know that my daily routine really got screwed up with you site being screwed up.

Daily routine: (retired person)

1) Get out of bed and put both feet on the floor and stand up. I know it will be another great day because I have been able to at least that.
2) Make pot of coffee.
3) Grab a large cup of coffee, pack cigs and head for the computer.
4) Turn on the computer and log on to Greybeards. (It works)
5) Drink many cups of coffee, smoke too many cigs and read the posts of many Greybeard forums. (Glad it back up and working again)

Sure glad that you got my screwed up daily routine fixed and up and running again.  Just thought ya might like to know that you weren't the only one having problems when your site was screwed -up.
Happy shooting, may you hit what you aim at.

I've been retired since Sep. 28, 1995 so I know the routine of a retired person pretty well by now. For me add to that insomnia to keep me from going to sleep and sleep apnea to make sure I can't stand asleep once I get there. I might head for bed or get up at any time of the day or night.

We've pretty much decided that this dedicated server they put us on is not capable of handling the traffic of this site as they promised. As a result we've upgraded to a far more expensive and powerful new dedicated server.

On the shared service they had dual processors. It was both fast and dependable. But atlas I had to pay $20 per gig for all traffic over 20 gigs per month on it. Even with the other server we have our images on I ran up a $280 overage charge bill in February mostly due to the influx of Marlin and NEF/H&R folks. That couldn't go on thus the dedicated server which gave me 250 gigs of monthly traffic before an overage charge.

But since it couldn't handle the load especially with the upgrades we installed we all went thru a period of head aches. Add to that a hacker who was hitting us trying to keep us closed down and it was a trying period. Now in the next 48 hours or so we'll move once again to a far more capable server where I'll have 1000 gigs of monthly data transfer and an 80 gig hard drive just to store GBO stuff on. This will hopefully allow us a lot of new features we can offer and give us a stable platform to work with.

My daily routine gets all busted to heck with work splittin' it up, but when I'm home, I sure do love to spend my time here with you all. I'd sorely miss being able to stop in, and chat a spell.

For Matt and Graybeard:

I just wanted to say, I work in software development and services for a large corporation, and have about 2500 people nationwide using my system weekdays, and about 300 over the weekends.  I have personally experienced what Matt is going through, and I just want to let everyone know that the pressure can be enormous, when you have so many people waiting for you to discover what can be a needle in a haystack.

Hang in there guys, you are providing a wonderful service to a lot of people, and you are appreciated!

Thanks for all you do.
