RCBS OR DILLON PROGRESSIVE PRESS?????????????

Thinking of getting a progressive press. I've heard alot of good things about Dillon. I now have a Rock Chuck The service from RCBS has been great so I was wondering if aybody has used their Progressive press and how it compares with the Dillon is it the 550(?)

You owe it to yourself to check out the Hornady.
Compared to the Dillon it will be cheeper to switch to a new caliber, it is less complicated with fewer parts and has the same great warranty.

I chose the Dillon 550 and have no regrets.

Dillon makes good equipment, no doubt about that!  Their customer service is excellent and they are local for me and have a nice retail outlet.

However it is pricy and proprietary.  Their progressive 650 press (just traded one off) requires their dies for straight wall cases (per Dillon) as the mouth needs to be beveled.  Had too many RCBS dies and presses to warrant any changes.

The cartridge change overs also seem a bit more expensive than RCBS.  There are more features and automation in their line.

But the bottom line for me is I will stick with my RCBS equipment.

I love my 550 dillion.  I have used the rcbs dies with no problem in mine.  I have to watch the Hornady 480 die in mine a little closer.  They need a little more flare.  I think both companies are great.  I won't give my Dillion up.

I use RCBS 45ACP dies in my Dillon 550, and a Lee taper crimp die.  They work fine in that model of press.  The only problem I've had with it is the occasional need to clean the priming apparatus.  I bent rod that holds the primers down (through my own mistake), and Dillon sent me a new one without charge.

.........I love RCBS equipment and their customer/product support and have a couple of RCBS presses,14die sets, two trimmers,two scales...ect..........BUT for a progressive press I have the Dillon 550B and find very little fault with it.........I also have a older progressive with case feed and I find the Dillon much easier to adjust and operate........again RCBS is great...but in progressive presses DILLON sets the standard...imo ....either way it's a win-win situation but just a little sweeter on the Dillon? good luck and good shooting-loading large batchs of ammo that just "has" to shot up!!!!

Been using a square deal for 45s and 9mm for yrs. If I needed parts they were shiped with only a phone call.  KN

Dillon 550 for me...have reloaded several thousand rounds with it...only problems we user caused, phone call, and the replacement part (with an extra) was in route...I thought about the 650, but I don't like the auto index.

Oh, the Dillon without a doubt!! I used to have a Square Deal and lost the little brass pins that retain the cartridge throughtout the process, during a move to my new house. I called Dillon and had them in 4 days, no charge. I've since sold the Square Deal and bought a RL550. I'd never buy another reloading press since this does it all and with any manufacturer's dies too! Dillon has better engineering, quality assurance, fit and finish, etc. Need more be said??
