Sure makes you wonder
« on: April 14, 2021, 12:36:33 PM »
Caught some really nice crappie while taking a friend from Ohio fishing last week. It's a long drive back to Ohio so he left the ones he caught with me and we figured we would have a fish fry when he and his wife came back down later in the year. The next day went down to grab the fish basket from the dock and clean our catch but someone decided they needed our catch more than we did and were also nice enough to borrow most of my minnows. At least they had the decency to leave my fish basket and minnow bucket behind.

Never ceases to amaze the lack of morals and respect people have for others. Lesson learned and I'll be cleaning fish the same day they're caught.

Oh well.......

Heh, they're everywhere.
Too bad about your fish, but, you can get out there and catch some more. :)

True enough, there are plenty more fish out there to catch.

I'll be going fishing in a week or two.
From the bank for bluegill and maybe a catfish or two.

Nothing more fun than fishing for bluegill, haven't done it for years but for their size they sure are fun to catch and good eating. Later into the summer it's enjoyable to bait out a 2/0 or 3/0 Tru-Turn hook with a nightcrawler and fish the creek channel and kick back and wait on a nice blue cat to come visiting.

I've had raccoon empty fish baskets on me, they'll take the fish, minnows, and night crawlers. They didn't leave much sign on the dock but the game cam caught 'em. Just sayin'

Was kind of thinking the same thing.  Since the fish basket and the minnow bucket weren't taken, just might have been a coon.

Granted it's a possibility but I figure if it was a coon it would've eaten all of the minnows and not left some behind. Figuring my problem had two feet and two hands and might have had company.

Sad deal when you can't leave
something somewhere and it
still be there when you return.
Years back I had a stringer of
eating sized fish out on the other
side of a stock tank I was fishing,
and when I worked my way back
to where the stringer was, a big
fat cottonmouth had started
eating my fish like a big scaly
fish kabob and got caught up
on a smallish catfish. I'm
sure that catfish was causing
some extreme discomfort, so
Mossberg and me put it out
of it's misery.
I mostly use wire baskets now
or they go straight on ice if
possible
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

I pulled my boat up to the bank one time and tossed my wire basket in the boat and it had a water snake in it about 4ft long.
He somehow squeezed through the mesh.
