Dodge is giving the people a lot more of what they want.

When the 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat was announced last year as the most powerful SUV ever made, Dodge said it would only build 2,000 of the 710 hp Hellcat V8-powered three-row vehicles before the model was discontinued at the end of the year, but the $83,160 vehicles sold out quickly.

In April, Dodge said it would be making a few more than planned to help meet demand and has now revealed that to be just over 1,000.

"We were able to do some optimization at the plants, we had sold orders in the dealer system," Dodge sales head Matt McAlear told Muscle Cars and Trucks.

"There won’t be a ‘22 model year so we wanted to take advantage of the situation where we could."

A Dodge spokesman confirmed the number to Fox News Autos, which represents a 50% increase in production achieved despite the challenges posed by the semiconductor shortage affecting the automotive industry.

The model won't be offered in 2022 due to more strict emissions standards going into effect and an all-new Durango is expected to launch soon. That means the Durango SRT Hellcat may be rarer than the 808 hp 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon muscle car, of which 3,300 were made for the U.S. and Canada.

The Durango SRT Hellcat is capable of accelerating to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, hitting a top speed of 180 mph and towing 8,700 pounds. Anyone looking for a Hellcat powered vehicle that can haul both ways like that next year will still be able to get one in the form of the Ram 1500 TRX, which is the world's most powerful pickup … for now.

for soccer moms that have a set!! I drove the jeep version (trackhawk) and it was an animal!! didnt even drive it to its limits because it wasnt mine but 4x4 launches with the owner driving would about suck the blood out of your face! Dodge druango version is just more sinister looking though. A bit heavier but with that much hp other then on a track who would notice. Not much of a sport utility guy but id love a hellcat or if they are ever available used at a more resonalble price that trx would really appeal to me. never thought it would be possible but after driving one of those or a hellcat my 392 challenger feels lame.

I hope they have improved them over the two my daughter had. They couldn’t fix all the electronics on the first one and probably put more miles on it than she did while fiddling around with it. They finally replaced it and the other was a danger to drive. The first only had really annoying problems with things that refused to work, then would, and then wouldn’t constantly. The second was dangerous to it’ occupants and other drivers. It would just stop running. Every have one quit in 75 mph rush hour traffic? It is a instant attention getter according to my daughter. It turned into a Tahoe after the second time it did it.

what year was it. Dodge has come along way in the last 5-10 years. My ram only has 25k on it but not one single problem.

I'm not positive but it seems it was about 10 years ago. That is why I said I hoped they had made improvements in them. She had a Grand Cherokee before those two and it suffered from the works now, quits working, goes back to working bug too. Maybe they finally have their ducks in a row but if I were in the market for a new vehicle it wouldn't be anything made by Dodge unless it was a regular old jeep. I just don't care for the others even if they are dependable now.

even the old tj jeeps werent that reliable. Advantage they had was there wasnt anything much high tech on them to fail. I was constantly wrenching on my tjs. My JK is a 2015. It has 60k on it and one injector went bad and it was a 30 minute job to fix in the driveway. Its been a good unit. Add to that it has more power then a tj and gets 3mpg beeter fuel economy. Rides and handles light years better and is just a better jeep then any before it and not by a small margin. Comparing it to a tj or yj is about like comparing a new ford truck to a model t. Rams have been truck of the year for about the last 5 years and have taken 2nd place in sales away from chev. Theyve come along ways. Driving my new ram id say this. I was a chev man all my life but chev has dropped the ball. Quality and fit and finish the ram burrys my silverados. Probably the fords to but there fans are a bit more loyal. They all make a good truck today but unlike 10 years ago dodge owners have nothing to be ashamed of. Like is said ive been a chev man for my whole life. Ive only owned this ram for 2 years and 20k. But so far anyway id buy another in a heartbeat if i was trading up.

I have an '05 TJ with 282K on the clock. If it wasn't that reliable I would have ditched it a long time ago.

the engines especially the 4.0s were about bullet proof but the rest of it was not even close to the quality of a jk. Even the transmissions were crap on many years  and unless you had a rubicon you got a crappy dana 35 in the rear that might as well been made of glass if you ran bigger then stock tires. I broke 4 axels through the years and trashed 2 rear ends.. Even the new ones are week there. The rubicons came with dana 44s front and rear. My willys at least has a dana 44 in the rear. THe first jks with the 3.8s were slugs and the motors were crap and didnt hold up near as well as the 4.0. Many didnt make a 100k  but the later ones had good motors. buddy has a tj and his 4.o just turned 250k and it still runs well but about everything else on it has been replaced. Add to that they had a tendency to rust fast up here. I rarely see one with the top of the front fenders not rusted and the frames were crap and rusted to the point of being dangerous. I owned 2 yjs and 4 tjs so i have a pretty good grasp on there reliability.
