Electrical power has been
off here most of the afternoon.

Anybody else experiencing a
loss of electricity?

I have two generators and a wood burning stove plus two outside stoves. One grill and one two burner camp stove. I also have other methods of cooking and gathering water. It’s not that I dont trust the power and water supply by the gooberment, it’s just that I don’t trust the power and water supply by the gooberment...

No issues here in the central hill country so far, the grid we're on isn't controlled by ercot or oncor. Back in February in the big freeze/polargeddon the power never went out.

The Oncor man in a bucket
truck was here a bit ago and
said nothing was wrong with the
lines or transformers. He said
he was going to wait right there
for a while to see if it came back
on and it did.
He went back up and checked it
again and said there wasn't anything
different except for there was juice
now

  Lloyd, you worked power distribution.  If electric vehicles become so widespread, at today's level of technology, will such require major additions or adjustments to the power grid to keep pace?

i worked in generation for 10 years and as a lineman for 25. To charge a car or like the typical family two you would probably have to have your service enterance replaced with at least a 300 amp pannel one car you might get away with a 200. That would about necessitate you paying the power company to replace the wires going to your house and your transformer. Then if everyone had to do it the distribution lines in your neighborhood and probably the distribution sub station would have to be upgraded with about all new transformers and switches. then lets add to that our transmission system that powers those substations is already way over taxed and is why your seeing more and more blackouts and brown outs. Now just imagine the pollution that will be created making millions of miles of aluminum wires millions of transformers, service pannels charging stations. Then consider most of whats being upgraded is basicaly old junk that would have to be recyled or put in landfills. Creating more pollution. Then when its all said and done your still not getting green power from the electric fairy. Its coming mostly from fossil fuel power plants which either would mean more of them or more nukes because solar and wind is just a pipe dream today.

This is the truth the powerful socialists dont want you to know and the middle class socialists dont want to see. They will force them down our throats until it breaks the camels back. Polititians like biden and sanders dont look at 10 years from now and what there changes will do. They look at next election and will tell those idiots anything they want to hear to get another term in office and to gain power. you know how they work. they will F up this country and then when we get another republican president that has to clean up this mess and make hard decissions they will blame him for ruining a plan that could never have worked anyway. Just like they do today with the virus. Biden has done NOTHING but take credit for trumps ideas and turns around and blames him for what happened. THe tell bald face lies and know they dont have to answer for those lies. They know there voters are just walking dead zombies that will blindly follow anything they say.

Remember they are SOCIALISTS!! There goal is to control the masses. They would just love to make cars and even electricity to power them something they can control and use to control us. They will make it so rural living isnt possible and we will all have to live within bike distance from work. After all how can we protest in DC if we all have to take bikes there!! Think about how much you rely on electricity. Most people couldnt live without it. Controlling it would be a more powerful tool then any army. They could put us to our knees without firing a shot. Dont follow the party line or make waves and they throw your switch.

This ISNT ABOUT POLLUTION its about CONTROL!! If you truely believe biden or sanders or any of those nut cases are worried this planet might die in 2 or 300 years your smoking way to much crack. We are under attack. They are using things like this. Turning the whole country into race riot so that people think we need the government to step in and take control. They are taking our oil independence out of the hands of oil companies and keep that control for themselves and as we all know they are trying to disarm us so we cant fight back when enough people wake up and see what there true intentions are. Religion? They want it gone because we give our loyalty to God instead of them. We are on a very dangerous tight wire right now. If we loose the midterms one end of that rope that has one strand left is cut and i fear all hope is lost. I shouldnt even say this on an open forum because even this very forum has socialists watching everyday and even posting here. Who knows where else there posting or passing on what we say here.

  So I take it, if almost everybody goes to electric vehicles..it will require virtually a whole new electric  supply system of much heavier duty..correct?

i agree mule but remember that we ALL have to pay for these stupid decisions being made by the left. Difference is we go into it with our eyes open knowing what will happen. They on the other hand wont see the light until its way to late and most likely wont admit it even them. Mark my words. If we dont take back this country within 5 years your electric bill will be at least triple what it is now and you will pine for the days that gasoline was under 5 bucks a gallon and could buy a lb of burger for under 10 bucks. STEAK? that will be only for the privileged. Rich people and welfare people with there food stamp card. I think this covid shut in was just a practice run. In the future we will all spend our off time huddled around with blankets wrapped around us at home because taking a drive or going to visit ma or going out to eat or even TURNING UP THE HEAT OR AIR just wont be things the middle class will be able to afford to do.
