I’d probably save a little more and get a 210.

I’ve got a 220 ST now, it’s a great gun for SD and plinking, but I wouldn’t call it a “target” pistol. It’s pretty accurate, but the trigger as it comes from the factory isn’t exactly the best for target shooting.

Well, I guess I'll answer you twice. If you have $1,500 to spend you have a few exellent choices. I have a H&K USP 9mm Elite (6") that is fantasticly accurate. Also their Expert model should be just as good. A used SIG P210 like the previous poster suggested should be top notch as well as being a real classic. Sig P226 Sport Stock is another exellent target pistol.
S&W coustom shop builds a beautiful 952 with a spherical bushing and hand fitted barrel.
I only tested my Elite once, at 25 yards it put 5 rounds into less than 1-1/2" (winchester 115 fmj white box). I've owned and shot many pistols and the Elite is the most accurate (never shot a P210 or a 952). I think these pistols are worth the price because they deliver if you do your part.
Good luck.
