Safe 4th of July
« on: July 02, 2021, 04:19:01 PM »
Hopefully, all you folks living in dry
areas won't be threatened by fires
caused by your thoughtless neighbors
shooting off fireworks.
They've been going off here since dusk,
and they'll continue until the people
either pass out, or run out of fireworks
to set off. At least we've had a rain earlier
today to stave off any embers. Dampness
won't help the gunfire though.

Happy early Independence Day
Stay safe
Enjoy the time with friends and family
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

We are wetter than a drowned rat at this point in time. Last July was wet which is unusual for this area. But that was it except for a very few light sprinkles until the first of this June. We were considered to be in exceptional drouth and it was certainly the driest I have ever seen since arriving here in late 1956. At the start of June I received 3.3" of rain in two days and then it quit and I was watering the lawn to keep it green. Then the rain returned last week and I'm up to around 7 1/2" here at the house and the patio is still wet from the last shower this morning. That is just about half of our average annual rainfall in normal years. No grass fire around here this year.

This isn't a general rainfall but everywhere around got some. The weather station 18 miles north of me is showing only .16" for yesterday but I got a fat 1 inch.

I hope you all have God blessed 4th of July.
One of the very rare times in the past sixty years I have no fireworks to shoot off. 8)
