New Huntsman barrel has been tryed out!

I finally got my rifle and barrels back on Tuesday. (2 Months!!) Went to the range yesterday and It was great. Only shot it about 5 times to ge the feel but I think it will be hard to beat the combination that you guys helped me decide on. 245 grain Powerbelts, 85 to 90 grains of 777. It is a breeze to load and shoot.

The sights did not look like what I was expecting. Rear sight is 2 green fiber optics and the front is one red. Is this the sight that I hear so much about it being very easy to break. It looks like the front sight could be better protected.

I had no problem seeing the sights with the Montecarlo stock.

The 777 cleaned up very easy with hot water, but was unsure what would be the best way to clean the breach plug and the camber threads for the plug.

I used The Thompson center anti seize on plug shot it 5 times and was still able to remove the plug with only my fingers using the provided tool.

Congrats on getting your Huntsman and other barrels back. :grin:

For the breech plug cleanup.. many methods work, but I can share the method I use if of any help.

I place the breech plug on a shop cloth,after wiping off the excess grease on the threads, and spray it with Gun Scrubber....turn it over and spray the other side of the threads. Just take care to keep this spray solvent away from your eyes,stock finish,painted items,etc. as contains chlorinated solvents.
I wipe off and place into a jar of Rusty Duck Black Off to soak while cleaning the rest of the gun. ( hot soapy water or Windex would also work if unable to find the Rusty Duck for soaking)

I also use the same RDBO cleaner on a large patch over a breech brush to clean the threads inside the chamber.
Takes a little fussin and the hardest area to get clean are those deepest threads running up to the shoulder leading into the bore (old toothbrush is helpful here). Traps a lot of crud there and a small flashlight is helpful to check that area during the cleaning process. :roll:

   Also congrats. I don't know when, but at some point the fiber just popped out of my front sight blade, I wasn't using it as it is scoped. The area that requires the most clean up work is the breach plug chamber, lots of scrubbing and q-tips, I also us rusty duck black off for cleaning, simple green works just as good. I take a 12 gauge bore brush to aid in cleaning those areas, the breech plug I just walk over to the sink with tooth brush in hand and scrub it under running water and dawn soap cleans up pretty good. I had all kinds of seizing issues with my breech plug and cured that using copper anti-seize sold at auto parts stores. TC anti seize didn't work at all, I think you will find this out the next time you go to the range and fire more than 20 shots using 777.
