consealed carry guns that missed the mark
« on: July 19, 2021, 11:14:12 PM »
Just thinking about guns that make me scratch my head. First is the 26/27 glock. Probably the least ergonomic handgun made. Without a extension mag its like hanging on to a 2x4. Because its the same thickness it doesnt conceal any better then a 19/23. i had one of each and dont miss them a bit. Especially now that you can get a hellcat or double stacked shield that holds as many and is much slimmer. The other one I still even own. Its a springfield emp 40. Absolutely gorgeous little gun. If looks counted it would be a first pick. Runs well too. Two problems and the first is a deal breaker ITS HEAVY. I have a full sized kimber with an aluminum grip frame that is noticeably lighter even with a clip of 45s in it. They made the 9mm emp with an aluminum grip frame but for some reason i cant comprehend used all steel on the 40. If the gun was lighter id carry it all the time. But as is its become another range gun that once in a great while i carry (usually open carry when im heading to camp)

Some times, certain guns can surprise.  My grandson, (LEO) has 3 @  9mm handguns  1) Smith & Wesson SD9 VE

  2) Taurus G2 C  and recently purchased a SCCY, CPX2..SCCY is apparently a new entry in the gun business.

He is very pleased with this gun..  More accurate than the Taurus and just as accurate and reliable, but handier

than the S&W, it is now his main carry.

ive thought of picking up one of the sccy 9s. Problem is read one test and there they claim they run like a glock. Next review has the jamming. I guess for what they want a guy could pick one up and if it was a pos just hawk it at the gunshop. Probably loose 50 bucks at most on a 250 dollar gun. I remember just a couple years ago that was shield price territory. Now there closer to 500. Every time i see a 9 and get antsy i tell myself ive got so dam many of then now that they hardly get a workout. But for fun free shooting a 250 dollar 9mm that runs would sure be hard to beat. I can cast bullets and load them for not much more then 22 shells cost. That is until my primer stash ends.

All I can say is that after many rounds through it, for function, reliability and accuracy, my grandson is very pleased with his SCCY, and prefers it over the other two, mentioned.

I shot the one my grand daughter in law received for Christmas not long after they appeared on the market. I considered it difficult to shoot with a very heavy trigger and rather nasty recoil. Her opinion is she hates it.

I have never seen Hickock actually bad mouth a gun in any of his videos. He might point out something some people "might" not like but never says it's junk or difficult to shoot. I have quit watching him. I don't care for videos that are long winded and beat around the bush and he is a master as being long winded and can thrash a bush into shreads. I have to give him one thing though, he's a very good shot.

I agree. I guess if any of us had access to all the free ammo and guns he does wed be better shots. Bet he isnt paying 40 bucks a box for some 9mm ball. Just bought and paid for advertisement
