Twenty years ago, when money was burning a hole in my pocket, I came within a simple bank transfer of buying and importing a Holden Monaro with the hot version of this engine; total price would have been less than 20,000 American dollars.
Instead I pissed away the money on a wasted attempt at a masters degree.

I applied for and was accepted for graduate school. The day of registration I took leave from work for the afternoon to go up to the University to register.

Sometime between leaving work and going to register, I came to my senses. I did not want to continue going to school and decided I was done with it. Of course, I wasn't. My job had me in training for one thing or another almost until I retired and I even spent 12 weeks instructing along the way plus loads of short classes I had to teach each year.

I do not and have not for one minute regretted the decision to not go to graduate school.

I only regret not taking a typing instructional
course of some kind while in school.
In my own defense,  the kind of computers
we have today were an expensive novelty
for many years after I left public school.
Ford Motor Company started having different
classes and certification requirements after
id been in it a few years, so I didn't get
away from schooling all together, plus the
ASE tests and certifications I've had to
test and get certified for.
Sad part to me is when I look around at
the people that cannot function without a
computer or smartphone, I feel grateful
and privileged for the things I learned
in public school.  The cashier at the store
today couldn't figure the change for a
$7.00 purchase paid with a 10 dollar
bill without looking at the register readout
